It All Adds Up is a work in progress that will be exhibited at Articulate Turns Eight Exhibition. This work is made from discarded bits of string, ribbon, rope, twine and shoelaces collected from alleys, streets, parks as well as from household stashes of similar material.
If you would like to contribute to It All Adds Up there will be an area near artwork to leave your donation. Along with contributions, stories related to donations are welcome.
This project is well over halfway and continued contributions needed.

Drawn from the Discarded is a collection of drawing tools predominately constructed from urban waste from Newtown and surrounding suburbs. The intention behind making these tools was initially born as a way to connect with the environment, to find new ways to make marks when drawing and give new life to the discarded.
The story behind Jody Graham’s salvaging behaviour is a creative response to the artist belief system that an excess of new and more can impoverish the human spirit. Attention and care in the arrangement of these implements has been used to assist in elevating their status from waste into art objects.
Selection of work to be exhibited – Jody Graham – After the Rain – series of works on paper using ink, sap, mad, acrylic and charcoal. 2018
After the rain, The Australian bush comes alive. Clouds part, birds flutter as insects look for new homes. Trees glisten with a wet sheen. Everything has been cleansed and a deep sense of profound new optimism is palpable. – Jody Graham 6/4/18
It All Adds Up is a collaborative, community rug I am making out of bits of string, twine, rope, old shoe laces and other similar material salvaged from streets, lane ways, bus and train stops, parks and or other public areas. This project has been inspired by a desire to create without spending. I am interested to see if enough string like material can be retrieved and contributed to make the equivalent of king single bed blanket. Names of people donating and location of string like material will be documented and recored as part of It All Adds Up.
If you are interested in participating please send me an email via my contact page.
